Your probably asking yourself - If water is so important, then why does my tap water taste bad?

Water is one of the most important things that we consume daily. It is essential for and helps us stay hydrated. However, water can taste bad, which can be a turnoff for many people.

In this post, I am discussing the importance of improving the taste of water. We are going to get into the fundamentals. Starting with "Why does my tap water taste bad?"

Because water is so good at dissolving all sorts of contaminants, a significant first step with the water puzzle is figuring out what is dissolved in it. Understanding its journey helps the perspective on why it tastes the way it does.

Tap Water Can Taste Bad For A Variety Of Reasons.

Chemicals like chlorine, elements like sulfur, and metals like mercury and iron easily dissolve into water.

Chlorine is added to water to kill bacteria, and while it is effective at its job, it can also make water taste bad. If you have ever spent any time in a swimming pool, you know exactly that smell and taste. That chemical taste is the disinfection process happening.

Sulfur is another element that can make water taste bad. It occurs naturally in water and gives it a "rotten egg" smell. Hydrogen Sulphide gas creates that rotten egg smell, and what a lot of people don't know is hydrogen sulfide gas can be lethal as well.

Metals like mercury can also make water taste bad. Mercury is a heavy metal that can be found in water due to industrial pollution. It is also very toxic! Iron, manganese, and zink contribute to making water taste metallic.

It seems that air injection filtration systems are the best to solve this problem. It does this by oxidizing sulfur, iron, and manganese, making the filter made of GreensandPlus (Trademarked) easier to absorb.

If you come across bitter water, it could have to do that the source has too much copper in it.

I remember spending some time with my grandparents in northern Indiana. The water was so hard, so metallic tasting. I also remember how it stained the porcelain of the toilets and sinks.

Another way to be aware is if the water tastes and smells dirty or musty, sediment and algae could mean the water is coming from a contaminated well.

Bitter or salty water can also indicate the presence of minerals like magnesium, sodium, and calcium. These three minerals can be found in water that has been sitting in metal pipes for a while.

If your water tastes sweet, it might have too much fluoride in it. You might want to get it checked by a

Filtered Water Tastes Better And Is Healthier Than Tap Water

I believe it's obvious that if you enjoy the taste of something, you will want more of it.

If the water tastes bad, you are less likely to drink it.

I like to apply the saying "the solution to pollution is dilution" to my health regimen. Diluting the contaminates in my body. I remember hearing this when working with my father. Then really stuck with me during my employment time in the wastewater industry.

You can reduce or eliminate unpleasant tastes and smells by using a water filter. But if you are not used to clean, filtered water, it may be a little unpalatable and take some getting used to.

I see a big benefit being filtering out the contaminants before you consume them, this takes a big handful of cancer-causing probabilities off the table. A no-brainer!

Creating An Environment To Succeed In Drinking More Water

Seriously tho, I can think of many different reasons for the importance of filtered water. I've been on a water journey for over twelve years now. After feeling how my body feels after chemotherapy, water was seriously the fastest way to get through the chemo hangover.

Even after a good bike ride, I crave water more than most all other liquids. I do flavor water often, depending on the temperature and how much I am sweating. I'll add electrolyte powders to replenish other minerals that I sweat out during my time.

My wife got me a Soda Stream so I could create carbonated water at a moment's notice. Adding fresh oranges and other types of citrus to create delicious infusions. Adding key immune-boosting vitamin C.

Here are some other flavors you can try...

  • Lime juice, mint, and cucumber
  • Apple and cinnamon
  • Strawberries
  • Lemon and lime

Acidity or pH

Water is one of the most important things that we consume daily. It is essential for our health and helps us stay hydrated.

pH is a measure of how acidic or alkaline water is. Simply put, a higher pH means that the body needs fewer nutrients to function properly, while low pH can lead you into an acidic state where there are fewer minerals in your body such as calcium for strong bones and teeth! This can also cause other problems with your immune system, creating an environment for disease to prosper.

The importance of maintaining this constant cannot be overstated; it affects everything from hair health, all way down to regulating inflammation levels within joints which ultimately impacts the overall quality of life by preventing pain during movement.

Fortunately, your body is good at regulating its pH and by drinking filtered water, makes it easier for your body to do so.

I would like to challenge you to try water only for 30 days and see how you feel.

Drink when thirsty, don't drink when not thirsty.

However, if water tastes bad, it will be a turnoff for many people.

To Wrap It Up...

There are many ways that water can end up tasting bad. And that makes it harder to want to drink it. Although water can taste bad to some, it is still one of the most important things we consume on a daily basis.

Not only does water help us stay hydrated, but it also plays an essential role in maintaining our body's pH level and helping regulate inflammation levels.

And that's why I make my water taste GREAT!

I challenge you to try water only for 30 days and see how you feel!
